Job Title: Staff Accountant

Summary:  Performs basic and intermediate accounting functions including billing, accounts payable and account receivable by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manages accounts payable by matching invoices to receiving documents, posting invoices, generating accounts payable and refund checks and mailing checks with invoice documents.*
  2. Provides timely research and resolution of discrepancies with invoices and other account payable issues as well as answers inquiries from vendors and employees.*
  3. Applies daily payment applications, writes up bank deposits and updates all customer accounts appropriately.*
  4. Completes assigned monthly journal entries and account reconciliations accurately and timely.*  
  5. Processes billing of invoices in the accounting system and sends to customers.*
  6. Performs collections on any new accounts.
  7. Obtains W-9’s for all new vendors to keep current with the 1099 process.*
  8. Prepares and files monthly sales and use tax returns for multiple states.*
  9. Maintains fixed asset ledger and depreciation schedules.*
  10. Maintains all bank accounts and cash reconciliations.
  11. Completes miscellaneous projects as needed by the Director of Accounting & Finance and Chief Financial Officer.*

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Dynamics, CPQ, Salesforce.com and Fixed Assets Software.
